Entertainment is a thriving industry with Music a frontier, today we took time out to meet a fast growing artiste in the city of Lagos who is creating a new kind of sound known as Afro Fuji Pop.
Emily: Please introduce yourself Mr. Larvish
Larvish: I go by the name Solarin Omotayo, My stage name is LARVISH. Am 21 years of Age, born and brought up in mushin, Lagos State.
Emily: What drew you to the music industry?
Larvish: Basically my friends drew me into the industry, Am a troublesome and shy guy, as at my JSS 1 level, we scatter the class with my songs, my friends banging the table to give me beat so I can freestyle. They have been with me since then till this year when they told me it time for me to share my talent with the world, they were even the one that paid my first ever single I mean the Shaku shaku(lukaku freestyle). All thanks to them.
Emily: Who are you inspired by?
Larvish: I am inspire by many people but mostly my mom.
Emily: Please explain your creative process?
Larvish: about creativity, am working on what I call Afro Fuji Pop…. Terry Apala came up with Hip pop Apala and people loved it, am quite sure they will love the Afro Fuji Pop too…. Man’s gat work
Emily: What’s an average day like for you?
Larvish: hmmmmm…. I guess a cool nice day…
Emily: Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
Larvish: Nope, Not really apart from Higher, that was my last single
Emily: Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
Larvish: Yeah, my first collaboration will be dropping by next week Tuesday, Which I feature an upcoming star like me named Kenzy… He is a good singer, But am thinking on featuring Big artist like CDQ, Mayorkun and Yonda.
Emily: Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans
Larvish: Fans sometimes are kinda annoying but you cant do anything to that cause without the fans you are nothing.. The only thing I can just do is to stay silent to criticism. But so far so good, my fans have been my source of motivation.
Emily: What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?
Larvish: My favorite part of this work is when I perform on stage, I mean big stages. Am always free and the adrenaline run through my vein. So am always happy.
Emily: Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
Larvish: Nope, not really.
Emily: Tell me about your favorite performance venues?
Larvish: For now it a friend birthday party at THE EVENT CENTRE, Ikeja opposite African Shire
Emily: What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Larvish: It takes pray and lots of handwork for you to become the big artist you wanna be, just be prayerful and hardworking, cause there is no shortcut to success.
